HAMPSHIRE COACH OPERATOR LUCKETTS TRAVEL DRIVES UP FUNDS FOR THE BBC DAISY APPEAL
'
A highly visible, bright-yellow coach covered with daisies has helped boost funds for BBC Radio Solent’s Daisy Appeal campaign to raise money for Wessex Cancer Trust projects.

The Hampshire coach company, Lucketts Travel, joined forces with BBC Radio Solent’s Daisy Appeal in August 2006 to support the charity by pledging 5p for every kilometre the Daisy Appeal Coach travels.

So far the 70 seater vehicle has clocked up many thousands of kilometres from its journeys around the region. It is used on the school run for five schools in the Portsmouth and Southampton area and it has also been hired privately by schools and youth groups.

“In the seven months since ‘Daisy’ hit the roads it has raised in excess of £1,000 for the charity,” said Ian Luckett from the Fareham-based company.

“This is the final push before the appeal comes to an end so we are encouraging people to get in touch and book the coach to drive the total even higher for the charity, which does important work for people with cancer and their families.

“We are delighted to help such a worthy cause - many of us at Lucketts Travel know someone who has suffered with cancer so it’s a very personal subject. We decided to livery one of our largest coaches with big and bold daisies. It is highly visible throughout the region and lots of people tell us that they have spotted the coach - so it’s definitely helping to spread the awareness of the BBC’s Daisy Appeal.
